With the Astah plugin architecture, you can add your own functions to Astah, including menus and extra views in the Astah GUI.
This tutorial shows how to develop plugins for Astah, with a few samples.
When you launch Astah, it loads all the plugin files in the plugins folder of the Astah installation folder. Plugin files must be .jar files packaged as OSGi bundles, because the Astah plugin architecture uses the OSGi runtime.![]()
The Astah Plugin SDK packages your plugin as an OSGi bundle automatically, and lets you run it in Astah during development without copying it into the plugins folder. Now let’s set up the environment to develop plugins!
You can develop plugins for the products below. The system requirements (OS and Java version) for developing and running plugins are the same as those of each product.
| Software | System Requirements |
|---|---|
| Astah Professional | See System Requirements |
| Astah UML | See System Requirements |
| Astah System Safety | See System Requirements |
| Astah SysML | See System Requirements |
